 We're all married now!! We each got to support one another as a bridesmaid on the others' wedding days.  We got married three years apart! The Sages were 2007, Eiferts in 2010 and Pattersons in 2013! Love my friends!

Showered!

We were so blessed again last weekend to have not one, but two showers for Miss Sadie!
The first was on Saturday, thrown by some of my best girlfriends.  Love these ladies!!

And then on Sunday afternoon, my sweet Sunday school class threw us another shower.

Everything was grey and pink!! I should have gotten more pictures of all of the cute decorations, but got distracted once I got inside : )  Those cupcakes on the middle of the table were delicious! Such sweet friends!

Needless to say after 3 wonderful showers, we feel so loved and feel like we have the "stuff" we need for Sadie's arrival.  What a blessing!

Rainbow Lodge

Cody and I went to Rainbow Lodge back at the beginning of January with our friends, Danielle and J.K.  I just remembered that I had pictures to share from the dinner and even moreso than that, I thought that y'all might need to hear about this place!

Rainbow Lodge is located in Houston off of North 610 and Ella.  What drew us there was the unique menu which boasts some wild game.  I enjoyed a delicious Salmon dinner and Cody had a mixed platter with a variety of food he would not have been able to get anywhere else.  We thoroughly enjoyed the food. 
The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very nice.  It was a cross between a high end steak restaurant and a lodge.  Try it out if you're in the area! I made reservations online for our Wednesday night dinner, which was probably overkill, but if we were going back on a Thursday-Sunday, I would probably make reservations.

Better than the restaurant even was getting to spend time with friends!

Christmas: Friends

I have been so blessed to see friends this past week!
Last Friday after school, I met up with Marianne who was in visiting from NYC.  What a blessing to have friends that you can just pick back up with even after not seeing them for a few years!

Once we got to Longview, I got to see Haley on her birthday at the coffee mill! (Lots of coffee - decaf of course- this past week!)

Later that day, I got to have lunch with Traci at Barron's before heading over to see our friend, Danielle.

That night we met up with the Redd's for their Christmas Eve Party!

The Color Run

Last weekend, Meagan, Lauren, Carolina and I participated in the Color Run, which was basically an adult's excuse to get really dirty.  We showed up at the beginning of the 5k in white and left absolutely covered in layers of colors.  Every little bit there would be a color station that you would run through where they would throw a certain color of colored powder on you.  The kicker was at the very end we each had packets of the colored powder.  They counted down and then everyone threw up their packet in the air.  If you looked up, you could literally see nothing but the powder...kind of freaky.  What a fun day!

Rip 'em up, Tear 'em Up, Sic 'em!

Life is busy.  I feel like that would be an understatement for most people, but life is busy.  This means that time with friends has to be intentionally planned.  Luckily I have amazing college friends who take the time to plan out weekends even though we each live in a different big city in Texas. 
Well this past weekend was one such occasion full of shopping, eating, laughing and a little Baylor football.

The shopping was ever so successful, but unfortunately the game was not for our Baylor Bears.  We were immersed in a sea of burnt orange in Texas' giant stadium and although neither team actually had a defense, I guess theirs was just a little more present that ours was.  The game went down literally to the last minute with a final score of 56-50, which tells you that both teams had good offenses.  Oh well! We still had fun! Sic 'em!

End of Summer

So its that time again.  Summer is officially over and that's okay.  I am beyond thankful for the time that I have off each year.  With that being said, I did squeeze every last second out of summer with:
a pool day

dinner with some of our favorite friends to celebrate Mary's birthday

 

sleeping in, being lazy, enjoying a good run,
some deep cleaning of the kitchen (necessary maybe not fun, but glad its done),
and celebrating a friend's engagement.
2012-2013 school year, here we come!

Vegas Baby!!

This past weekend we flew out EARLY Friday morning to meet up with Warren and Danee for a long weekend in Vegas!  We had time to relax, get some sun, watch some shows, shop, eat some yummy (albeit no where near healthy) food and spend quality time with some of our favorite friends!

Where we stayed:
*We stayed at the Tropicana.  It seemed like the entire hotel had been recently renovated.  Everything seemed so new, which is nice in a hotel.  We enjoyed the pool a few times (it was very nice).  The first day when we got there, we were having trouble finding chairs and happened up on the "day bed" next to the pool which costs a decent amount to rent.  The lady who had been on it was leaving, but since she had rented for the day, gave it to us.  Which was awesome! 

The breakfast buffet in the Beach Cafe came with our stay and it had a great variety of food.  We basically filled up each morning for the day, especially on fruit (it just all looked so good).  It did not have the number of restaurants, shops, etc that hotels like the Bellagio does, but we really enjoyed our stay there. 

Restaurants we visited:
*Diablo's Cantina right outside the Monte Carlo: Great Mexican food restaurant.  They had amazing salsa.
*Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in the MGM Grand:  Very reasonable priced (especially for Vegas) I loved their Prosciutto,  Oven Dried Tomatoes, Basil Pesto, Goat Cheese pizza.  I officially no longer hate goat cheese.

*Serendipity 3 at Ceasar's Palace: We were there for Saturday brunch.  I got to try both the wing flavored chicken strips and the chicken salad sandwich.  Both were good!  The chicken salad sandwich had potato chips at the top of it which I thought was weird at first, but turned out to add a nice little texture.  We were way too full for dessert though, which seems like a shame with their frozen hot chocolate.


Shows we saw:
*Cirque de Soleil KA at the MGM Grand: We got hooked on Cirque last year after we were given tickets to Ovo.   This Cirque was not quite as impressive with the physical abilities of the performers (although it still was impressive).  The stage was what was so impressive this time! Great show! I wish I had not been so tired though (we went the night we got there).  I would still love to go back sometime to see O and Love. 

*We also went to see Comedy Hypnosis.  It was very entertaining.  Not for all ages though.

A couple of thoughts:
*Everything you see in movies in not necessarily true.  I could have sworn that fights occurred at the Bellagio (because of Oceans 11 of course).  The Bradley-Pacquiao fight was the MGM Grand.
*The fountains at the Bellagio stop at midnight.  They will not turn them back on even if you ask. : )  We had luckily seen them from afar the day before.

*We've carried on suitcases the few times that we have flown and I am doing that unless I absolutely have to check a bag.  It requires a little more fore thought on what you are wearing, but leaves me not having to pick out outfits or put away a lot of extra clothes when I get home.   It also saves time (and money not to mention) whenever you get where you're going because you don't have to wait at the baggage claim.  Win win!
*If you go to Vegas wear comfortable shoes that are cute, not vice versa.  I had been reminded of the amount that you walk while there and was so glad it was suggested to bring wedges rather than heels.  My Toms wedges kept me walking and not hobbling as I'm sure I would have been doing in heels.
*The people along Las Vegas Blvd are crazy.  For example, we ran into "Alan" from the Hangover...or at least a really good impersonator.
